Acer Aspire A315-21-2109 in depth Review.
A laptop is one of the essential devices whether you are a working professional or a student. In case of students it is not easy to afford the best in class laptops as they are way too expensive. To be honest a student doesn’t need a high-end laptop unless their curriculum requires them to do some heavy work on their laptops. So, here is a great laptop for you if you are on a tight budget.

We have covered the basics about the laptop so it is time to look at the laptop in greater detail.
The 15.6-inch HD display isn’t the best display on a laptop but it is one of the best one could get at this price. The display is bright and colors reproduction is acceptable. The contrast ratio isn’t that great which means the display might look dull and washed out at times.
The viewing angles are acceptable but don’t expect the display will look perfectly crisp and clear from any angle. Overall, it is okay to perform regular tasks such as watching movies, browsing the web or doing some work like programming, word processor, etc.
Again, don’t expect to have a mind-blowing experience from the speakers. The stereo speaker system is loud enough to be heard properly even if the laptop is placed at a distance. The sound quality is below average and you won’t really enjoy watching movies or listening to songs but at the same time it isn’t that horrendous that you should not even try them.
It doesn’t come with custom software which is quite common in high end laptops so you are stuck with the default apps to balance the audio correctly.
In short, the speakers are good but you will feel that it could have delivered a lot better but then there is the price tag.
Being a budget-oriented laptop, the Acer Aspire A315 isn’t crafted to set new benchmarks and compete with the top of the line laptops. Its main purpose is to help the user perform everyday tasks on the laptop with relative ease and without breaking their bank.
In terms of processing power, the AMD E2-9000 CPU competes with the Intel i3-6100U. Even though the latter is a lot better the AMD processor, still the AMD one is fine and you won’t face any problem in performing day to day tasks on the laptop. Here are some benchmarks of the CPU along with additional details.
The 2 dual core CPU has only 2 threads which means no modern game will run on it and many might even refuse to open with this CPU. So, gaming is not an option if you opt this laptop. Cinebench R15 scores the AMD CPU are 47 and 84 points for single and multicore performance. The 6006U blows away the E2-9000 in single core and is nearly three times better and in multicore the 6006U scores more than twice that of the AMD processor.
The standard hard disk drive has nothing to boast about and will work just fine. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are okay and won’t cause any difficulty which means the web browsing and file transferring process will be alright.
The integrated AMD Radeon R2 graphics card isn’t any good either. To be honest, the only thing it is good at being is the worst GPU in the AMD’s integrated GPU line-up. You should not even think about playing any demanding games on this GPU. Anyway, here is a brief overview of its performance in games
- Team Fortress 2: A popular F2P FPS runs at an average of 20 frames per second on low at 720p which means it is unplayable with massive lags.
- Rocket League: Another popular e-sports title runs fine at 720p on low. The average frame rate was 31 frames in a second.
- Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider 2013 were playable at 720p on low settings with an average of 31 frames a second.
In terms of video playback, you can watch any video expect the 4K ones which will lag a lot along with many glitches even though it is able to play them.
The laptop comes with 3 cell Li-ion battery with a capacity of 3220 mAh which will give an acceptable battery life of around 4-5 hours on medium loads. There are no benchmarks available right now so the battery life is only a theoretical expectation which might change depending on the conditions.
This laptop isn’t the most stylish kid on the block and looks like a budget-oriented laptop without any of those cool finish and accents. Made with the purpose of getting the work done it has a solid build quality and a nice brush pattern finish.
It does have a pretty decent number of ports such as an SD card slot, a VGA port which is a rarity these days, an HDMI port, couple of USB 3.0 ports and a lone USB 2.0 port. For audio input and output it has a headphone and mic jack, even though it has an in-built mic. There is also a webcam which is acceptable while making video calls and nothing more due to its poor pixel count.
An excellent choice for people on extremely low budget or students. The laptop handles every day task without any difficulty and will keep you entertained well. It is not made to play games so I would say if you are a student looking to play games as well then this won’t be a good choice. In case of office laptop you should definitely go for it if you cannot get a better option for your budget.
